Vintage Western Nursery for Baby P: Antique Charm and Cozy Comfort

Decorating Baby P’s nursery has been such a fun journey! As first-time parents, we wanted to create a space that felt warm, timeless, and full of personality. After brainstorming ideas, we landed on a vintage western theme with a few fun touches—like mallard ducks—that reflect our love for a rustic look.

Here’s how we brought it all together, from wall colors to vintage finds.

The Wall Color: Oakmoss Green

We started with the walls. We chose Sherwin Williams Oakmoss (HGSW6180) in an eggshell finish. This soft, earthy green sets a peaceful tone for the room and adds a cozy feel without being too dark. It’s the perfect backdrop for all the wood accents.

To make the walls unique, we added wood trim before painting. This gave the room some extra texture and dimension—just a small detail that makes a big difference in the overall vibe.

The Crib: Pottery Barn Kids Chris Loves Julia Convertible Crib

When it came time to choose a crib, we knew we wanted something classic with a little character. We went with the Pottery Barn Kids Chris Loves Julia Turned Wood Convertible Crib, and we’re so happy with it! The turned wood spindles give it a vintage vibe, and the convertible design means it’ll grow with Baby P. Plus, it’s just beautiful to look at.

The Dresser: Pottery Barn Kids Chris Loves Julia 6-Drawer Dresser

For storage, we went with the Chris Loves Julia 6-Drawer Dresser (56” wide). It’s sleek, spacious, and fits perfectly with the crib. The warm wood finish ties the room together, and there’s plenty of space for Baby P’s clothes, blankets, and anything else we need to store.

Lighting: Soft and Cozy Wall Sconces

The lighting was another key element we wanted to get just right. We chose these simple, elegant wall sconce lights, which give off a soft, ambient glow. They provide just enough light for nighttime feedings and make the room feel cozy and calm. They’re battery powered and the lights are rechargeable making it super convenient.

Thrifted Finds: Adding Character

One of my favorite parts of the nursery came from thrifting. We found a few vintage gems that really give the room personality, like a duck painting to hang above the dresser, some adorable copper shoe bookends, and a set of classic Dr. Seuss books. These pieces are full of character and tie into the whole vintage western vibe we’re going for.

Rugs and Rocker: Cozy Touches

We wanted the nursery to be extra cozy, so we added a main rug with warm, earthy tones and layered a cowhide rug for that western touch. The mix of textures really makes the room feel inviting.

For a comfy spot to rock Baby P, we chose this rocking chair, which is stylish, comfortable, and perfect for those late-night feedings and snuggles.

Curtains and Wall Décor: Finishing Touches

To finish the room, we added some soft, flowy curtains to balance out the wood tones and keep the space feeling light and airy.

And to add a little reminder to enjoy every moment, we hung up a “These Are the Good Ole Days” wall flag. It’s a sweet sentiment that’s perfect for a nursery.

Air Quality: Keeping It Fresh

We also wanted to make sure Baby P’s room was always fresh and clean, so we added an air purifier to keep the air quality high. It’s a simple but important addition to keep the nursery comfortable and to minimize pet hair.

Peg Hooks: Extra Storage

To keep things organized, we added expandable wall peg hooks. These are perfect for hanging up blankets, hats, or even a cute jacket, and they add another rustic touch to the room.

Bringing It All Together

From the vintage pieces we hunted down to the carefully chosen furniture, every detail of Baby P’s nursery feels thoughtful and special. It’s a space that reflects our style—cozy, rustic, and full of warmth—and we can’t wait to welcome him into it.
